Третя проба А7: спільне добре діло

Note: these are just suggestions, and do not guarantee approval from your виховник/ця, зв’язковий/а or the Крайовий/а Комедант/ка УПЮ. They have the final say about whether a project works for that тема!

While I always encouraged юнацтво to do a добре діло, given the situation I think this project should be mandatory. Україна needs all the help in the world; this is your chance to make a difference!

If you decide to organize a fundraiser and donate your funds to the Пласт cause, here’s a page full of resources you can use to help get the word out.

This clause just reiterates that this project must include some component of organization. You cannot just show up somewhere and collect money; you must organize some event around the fundraising/good deed.

This is the one example from Напрямні – organize a garage sale and give the proceeds to a charitable cause. That’s good and all, but I feel like we can do better. Remember the point is to organize something, not just the good deed/fundraising portion of it (though that’s important too!)

List of other fundraisers (in no particular order)

• carwash: offer to wash cars, and add some blue and yellow ribbons to the door handles
• sell custom made tshirt: design a tshirt, get some printed, sell them at the next Ukrainian fair, and donate proceeds
• bake sale: team up with your community’s best торт baker and raise funds; could host at the домівка or your церква (with permission)
• борщ sale: or even a борщ cook off? Someone please do this.
• screen a documentary about Україна, ask for donations at the door: make sure you obtain appropriate rights to do the screening
• craft sale: good opportunity to learn a folk craft, paracord bracelets, etc
• “spirit night” or other fundraising effort through local restaurant: many local and chain restaurants have a program where they will donate a percentage f their sales from a particular day to your organization. You would be in charge of advertising and making sure lots of people show up.
• Pine wreaths: for the winter holidays
• bunches of верба: coordinate with your церква to decorate bunches of верба, and ask for a donation.

Other добрі діла (not fundraisers) in no particular order

• make Великодні кошики for community members who cannot leave their homes
• offer lawn services for community members who cannot leave their homes
• organize a food drive or clothing drive for refugees
• make PFAKS/IFAKS with a local scout troop
• organize a vigil/rally in support of Україна
• clean the домівка
• organize a group to assist an animal shelter
• organize shifts for стійка при гробі
• go колядувати at senior centers
• adopt the street in front of the домівка and help keep it clean
• trail maintenance / clean up a trail
